What You'll Get

  • 60 Days

In 60 days, you will go from a dream to reality, and you’ll take significant action toward your move within the first week. By the end of the 60 days, you’ll actually be in the middle of the relocation process.

  • 12 Instruction Hours

Over the course of the 8 weeks, you’ll have 8 60-minute sessions, with 30 minute Q&A after, which totals 12 hours learning and getting assistance from Jess. For perspective, 12 hours of private consulting would cost you $2520 ($210 per private hour) and that is without the clear cut tasks, 24/7 access and community of fellow future expats.

  • 24/7 community

All cohort members will be added to a special WhatsApps chat to talk to each other, ask questions aboul weekly tasks, and form bonds with folks in the exact same boat as you! Your coach will also be in the chat and answer questions at least once per day.

  • 11 fellow expats

The cohort is open only to 12 future expats, and this will be your team and fellow community. The process of moving abroad can feel challenging, and finding answers for queer and trans folks can sometimes require a team effort. This is your team!

  • 8 weeks

Over the course of 8 weeks, you will have practical, action-based tasks to keep you on track at a rational pace to get through all the challenges of relocation together.

  • 8 Workshops

You will have a full 60-minute workshop on important key themes of moving abroad with Jess, together with your fellow cohort members. This will include up to 30 minutes of personal Q&A time to get your questions answered.

Weekly breakdown

Week 1 (Oct 13): Mapping the Journey

Live Workshop: This first session lays the groundwork for an international move, and for what it means to relocate as a queer person. We’ll start with the big picture: what global relocation looks like when you’re LGBTQ+. Shifting political climates, gender affirming care, and other lessons that rarely make it into the mainstream relocation advice.

Then, we’ll walk through the full relocation roadmap, step by step, from visas to packing to arrival. You’ll learn the key differences between visas, residency, and citizenship. We’ll also set expectations for the next eight weeks: what you’ll accomplish, what decisions you’ll make, and what progress will look like.

Objective: Set expectations and create your relocation roadmap.

Week 2 (Oct 20): Determining how and where you can move

Live workshop: It’s not so much about where you can move. it’s really how you can move abroad. This week, we will learn about different visa categories so that you can figure out what visas work BEST for you and your family. We will determine whether you should be applying for international jobs and how to do that, or whether you need to consider digital nomad or other types of self-sustaining visas. Your homework will to be to dig deep into those options to determine which 1-2 countries might work best for you.

Objective: Determine a short list of realistic visa options to explore.

Week 4 (Nov 3): Organizing and submitting paperwork

Live workshop: This week is all about execution. You’ll get clear on exactly which documents required by your exact visa pathway -and how to start gathering them. We’ll walk through the common paperwork you’ll likely need: background checks, bank statements, apostilles, proof of insurance, and more. You’ll also learn how to figure out where to apply and how to reach the right consulate. Just as important: we’ll map out how long everything takes, what needs to happen first, and how to sequence your steps so you’re not scrambling down the line.

Objective: Create yourself a document checklist for your visa application

Week 3: (Oct 27) Understanding your shortlist

Live Workshop: This week is about strategic fit. At some point, you have to actually choose which country to move to, and this is the week. You’ll have researched and talked to family. This session is for looking more deeply at your shortlist and exploring how to narrow it down to a final choice. We will look at gender-affirming care, legal protections, job markets, political stability, and your long-term vision for the move (whether you citizenship vs a few years of safety and security).

Objective: Making the decision about where to move abroad

Week 6 (Nov 17): Tying up your life at home

Live Workshop: Before you can start fresh somewhere new, you have to wrap things up at home. This week is about handling the practical (and emotional) logistics of departure. We’ll cover how to take stock of your belongings and decide what to sell, store, or ship. You’ll also think through whether to rent out your home or sell it, and when to do either for your visa timeline. And we’ll talk about the emotional side of leaving: how to communicate your plans, prepare for goodbyes, and make space for what’s coming next.

Objective: Create a clear plan for dealing with aaaallllll the baggage (physical and emotional).

Week 5 (Nov 10): Getting granular on cities and schools

Live workshop: Once you are certain what country to move to, it’s time to drill down into where you might actually live. We won’t decide that on this call, but we will shape the details of what you need to look for, how to choose a city or region of a country. You’ll look into what housing is like, what your lifestyle might be in each place, and if you’re relocating with kids, we’ll also cover how to compare international and local school options — including timelines and enrollment basics.

Objective: Determine a shortlist of potential cities or regions and a list of criteria to aid in decision making.

Week 7 (Nov 24): Preparing for taxes, banking, healthcare

Live workshop: Taxes, banking and healthcare, oh my. This is the week we look into the realities of paying taxes in your new country and back home (yes, some U.S. tax rules will still apply). We’ll have covered a bit about healthcare already, but we will look into remaining questions about the healthare systems where you are moving and the realities of banking and transfering funds overseas.

Objective: Set up money transfer platforms, research healthcare options and understand basic tax issues (and who to hire to help with the rest!)

Week 8 (Dec 1): Building community abroad

Live Workshop: While you tie up loose ends at home, you can already be building community abroad. Relocation isn’t complete until you feel rooted, and that starts with people. This week, you’ll focus on building real connection in your new country. We’ll talk about how to find supportive local and expat networks, where to look for LGBTQ+ community, and how to show up with curiosity, openness, and a sense of self. You’ll also explore the queer history and rights landscape in your destination, and how language learning can be part of your integration.

Objective: Create a personalized plan to connect and grow your network abroad.

Every relocation is completely different and completely personal. Throughout these 60 days, our ultimate goal for each and every participant is to help you to have an exact relocation strategy, complete with a timeline of every stage of your move and all the documents, webistes, platforms and resources it will take to get you there. By the time you end this cohort, you will know: What country you are moving to, possibly even what city or region.

  • What schools your kids might go to (depending on applications and timing).

  • When to submit those school applications.

  • What documents you need for visas.

  • When to request those documents from the state and federal government.

  • What immigration lawyers you can work with in your target country.

  • When to hand in that visa application.

  • What to do with your belonging and whether to sell your home.

  • When and how to talk to your family about relocating.

  • How to best settle in abroad and create community

  • …And much, much more.

  • Plus, you will have a small group of people who are just as commited to doing this as you are, all working on the same tasks and going through this with you.

Final objective: Creating your complete timeline

I’m excited to work together!

This is a much deeper and more profound way than any other consulting option we offer.

You’re not only getting expert presentations and weekly tasks to keep your momentum going and staying on track.

You’re getting a full group of fellow queer expats looking to accomplish the same goal, at the same time.

All live workshops and small group DMs and chats will take place on Quinn, the private community space.

Your whole group will be online to give advice, get excited together, and share their struggles with, too.

This is only for those who are ready to actually create and execute a relocation strategy!

“I wish I had done this years ago. I knew I wanted to, but I took forever to take action.”

  • Deborah, former client who moved to Nicaragua, then Mexico

“I can’t imagine doing this without you, Jess. You may have actually saved my life.”

  • Nicole, former client who moved to Amsterdam, The Netherlands

What is a Cohort?

A cohort is a small group with a shared goal, moving through the journey together. Here, it means guided coaching that gives you clarity, accountability, and expert support to plan your move abroad.

Why a cohort? Why not just one-on-one consulting?
You will have quick wins, answers to questions you didn’t know to ask, and the peer-to-peer aspect is powerful.

Quick Wins: The weekly structure keeps you on track. You won’t drift, stall, or wait for motivation — you’ll make steady, visible progress.

Questions You Didn’t Know to Ask: In a cohort, you learn from everyone. The questions others ask reveal blind spots and challenges you wouldn’t catch on your own.

Queer-Centered Strategy: Everyone’s path is different, but the obstacles are familiar: same-sex marriage recognition, gender affirming care, schools that celebrate diversity… You’ll see how other LGBTQ+ folks navigate it all, and find smarter ways forward - together.

Quiet Power: You’re not doing this alone. You have the help of an expert and a supportive community, you’ll avoid mistakes and any of the doubts and negatiivity you might be experiecing from friends and family in your daily lif.e.

You’ve GOT this, and you’ll do it with your Quinn cohort.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • You know you want to move, so at some point you have to choose a country. This is the best way to do that and then immediately move into action. We will look at your personal factors and help you figure out what country is the most likely spot where you'll be able to get a visa and feel happy and settled abroad!

  • Yes! We work very closely with trans adults and parents of trans kids on their relocations. We center the needs of trans folks - more than any other relocation company out there. Together with Jess, you'll hunt that all down together and do whatever it takes to get the info you need. It's all part of the deal!

  • You can, yes! We center the experiences, questions and issues of queer and trans folks, but we are fully inclusive. We find a lot of folks who are neurodivergent or otherwise feel different in some way feel very comfortable in our community. You just have to be ready to actually take action steps to move abroad.

  • That depends. This is a big investment in your time, your efforts, you will be working hard and getting a true plan in place. If you truly want an exit strategy that you 'could' put into place whenever, then this would completely get you that. However, we expect the cohort to all be motivated and hopefully, participate and make strong connections!

  • Reach out to me. I want to make this accessible to you. Let's chat.

This cohort is truly an investment in your future. You'll be able to truly transform your life, and you’ll have one year access to the Quinn community, too.

  • We'll probably do our second cohort starting in mid-November through February 2025. Reach out to jess@rainbowrelo.com to be put on a waitlist.
